F O O D   P A N T R Y 

Our newly remodeled Food Pantry is one of the largest in the Rockford area. Literally hundreds of food insecure families and individuals flood the doors each and every Saturday, seeking assistance with food and other services. Life Center is dedicated to inspiring change in the lives of each individual we come in contact with; treating each individual with the dignity and respect they so deserve.  Clients regularly express their deep appreciation for the exceptionally large bags of food and the warm welcome they received upon entering through our doors. All sizes of families, including single households of 1, are provided with perishable and non-perishable food items including; meat,  fresh fruits and vegetables, boxed meals, canned goods, bread and bakery items, and more! Clients are welcomed to utilize our Food Pantry/Life Programs on a bi-weekly basis, and can expect to receive approximately four days of food. Life Center serves as the only Food Pantry in Winnebago County that meets the hunger needs of clients more than one time per month.  

Nearly 10% or 15,000 of Rockford’s population go to bed hungry each night. This is a number that together “we” can change.

F A S H I O N   B O U T I Q U E

Good, clean, fashionable, new and gently used clothing for men, women and children is available. Weather our client is looking for interview clothing or just some lounge around wear, we are able to fulfill their needs. It is also common for Life Center to be the recipient of new clothing donations, allowing us to comfortably clothe our community. In addition, the push for all uniforms in the Rockford Public Schools is quickly being implemented throughout District 205. To lighten the financial load on parents, we now offer our School Uniform Exchange Program as an efficient and inexpensive alternative to buying new uniforms for our fast growing children. “Bring one, Get one” is our motto. Take some time to stop in Life Center’s “Fashion Boutique” and we guarantee you will enjoy your shopping experience.

T H E   G A L L E R Y

Make a house a home! At “The Gallery” you will feel as though you walked into the comfort of your own home or as if you walked into your personal furniture store. You are able to find living room, bedroom or dining room furniture as well as other household items and accessories. All items in “The Gallery” have been donated by area Business’ and individuals of our community. These items are delivered personally by Life Center staff to the home of our client.

W E L L N E S S   C E N T E R

A healthy and properly functioning body is vital to a optimal life. At Life Center, licensed registered nurses volunteer their time to do wellness check-ups such as blood pressure screenings and other assessments. Clients in need of personal hygiene products, “over-the-counter” medications and necessary items needed for handicapped individuals are all available. We supply everything from soap and deodorant to walkers and crutches.                              

H O U S E H O L D   R O O M

From knick-knacks to dish racks; we get it all. Hundreds of new and gently used items necessary to fill a home are available each week. Books, radios, TV's, printers, toys, dishes, drapery, blankets, glassware, additional clothing, movies, and more. You need it; you can usually find it in this room. This room operates on a first-come, first-serve basis to clients. New items arrive each week, ensuring a wide variety is always available.    

E M P L O Y M E N T   E M P O W E R M E N T

With our unstable economic situation, Life Center offers encouragement to those who are unemployed with our Employment Empowerment programs. We are committed to teach and to mold successful and well-equipped wage earners by supplying them with Job Searches and assistance with Resume Creation. Here, we have six computers outfitted with Internet access and our Life Center Staff on hand Monday through Friday to help our clients search for jobs and create a professional and personal resume. Coming Soon, Life Center will also be participating in an Adult Literacy Program, aimed at empowering adults with marketplace literacy. This program is focused on helping individuals acquire the tools necessary to successfully compete in the modern business world.
